Search Optimization Overview

We employ valid Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that improve the visibility of your web site in search engines via the natural or un-paid search method. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently your site appears in the search results list and the more visitors it will receive from each search engine. Our SEO techniques target different kinds of searches, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives your web site a web presence. Increasing your web presence is our primary goal because that results in a better Return-On-Investment.

Increasing Site Prominence

Our methods have proven to increase the prominence of your web page within the search results. Cross-linking between pages of your website to provide more links to most important pages can improve its visibility.

Rewriting specific content to include frequently searched keyword phrases, so as to be relevant to a wide variety of search queries will also tend to increase your sites' traffic. Adding relevant keywords to your web page's META data, including the meta title tag, meta description, meta abstract tag, and meta keywords will also result in improving the relevancy of your site's search listings, thus increasing traffic. This, once again, increases your Return-On-Investment.

Success Record

The chart below illustrates our proven success regarding getting results for our clients.
We used common search terms to obtain the results from Google at 08:05 on 6/1/2011. The results were filtered to only include the sites that we developed. Any results that came back for the same term that were sites not designed by us were excluded. For this example, only first-page results are shown (second and third page results were omitted from this data. This search results chart is actually incomplete and we will be adding more sites shortly. The main point is to illustrate that we use proven methods that get positive results.

Note that we are familiar with multiple SEO strategies that can be used at any time, either separately, or in combination. Some of these strategies (as noted in the chart below) include:

(MS)= Multiple Sites
(ML)= Multiple Locations
(MLP)= Multiple Landing Pages

META Data

As part of your combined Internet marketing strategy, our SEO process considers how each search engine works as well as how the average person searches. Our optimization of your website involves editing its content, HTML, and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the commonly known indexing activities of most search engines. These common barriers can include, but are not limited to:

° No provisions for search engine indexing.
° Improper usage of META tags and keywords.
° Improper use of frames and I-frames (without properly planning search engine indexing work-around).
° Assuming that Search Engine criteria are being automatically included and are preprogrammed into the editing software.
° Leaving non-indexing or index-halting content inside the page code.

Proper promotion of your site by increasing the number of back links, or "inbound links" and reciprocal links is just one of the many search optimization tactics that we employ. Another strategy that we employ is the key usage of the "title" tag in every instance possible, and, the inclusion of header tags which were originally and still are, prominent in indexing. Ideally each page that we create for you (provided we have the content or are authorized to do the research to generate the content) should be what is termed as "content-rich" and simply utilize the actual page contents to generate the necessary search engine requirements, such as:

° Correct usage of the Header tag,
° Correct META tag page descriptions,
° Correct META tag keywords,
° Correct "Title" tag descriptions,
° Correct "Alt" image tag descriptions,
° Including individualized META tags for each page,
° etc......

Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of your site, our optimization tactics are incorporated into all stages of web site development and design. The term "search engine friendly" is our main focus in all of our web page and site designs, menus, content management, images, videos, shopping carts, and other elements that we create for each client.

Additional Tools

Since we specialize in SEO, we utilize a wide range of tools to ensure the prominence of your site. Some of these tools include the following:

 robots.txt files:

We create a robots.txt file and place it on your server to tell the various search engine spiders when not to crawl or index certain sections or pages of your site. We use it to, prevent certain areas of your site from being indexed and to issue individual indexing instructions to specific search engines.

All search engines, or at least all the important ones, now look for a robots.txt file as soon their spiders or bots arrive on your site. So, even if you currently do not need to exclude the spiders from any part of your site, having a robots.txt file is still a good idea, it can act as a sort of invitation into your site.

 Search Engine Submittals:

We fast track submitting your website to the top search engines using automated submission wizards, then manually submit your site to any engines missed or overlooked by the automated process. Your site is submitted to the top search engines including international versions with markets focusing in Australia, Canada, The United Kingdom, Russia, the Ukrane, and the United States. Because of overwhelming desire to get you the best ranking possible, as fast as possible, this is just one of the many SEO tools that we incorporate.

 Web Analytics:

Another of our optimization tools is Web Analytics. We use Web Analysis to measure, collect, analyze and report on your sites' internet data for purposes of understanding and optimizing the sites' usage.

Web analytics is not just a tool for measuring website traffic (which does not necessarily indicate Return-On-Investment), but is much more comprehensive and is used as a tool for business and market research for your company. We employ web analytics applications that help measure the results of changes and additions made to your site. It helps to estimate how the traffic to the website changed after the launch of new features, functions, products, etc.. Web analytics provide data such as the number of visitors per page, the most common landing pages (the pages that brought the viewer to the site), the number of page views, etc., to gauge the traffic and popularity trends which help during the cost-analysis and life-cycle maintenance of the site. Our on-site web analytics tools measure a visitor's journey once on your website. This includes its drivers and conversions; for example, which landing pages encourage people to make a purchase. On-site web analytics measure the performance of your website in a commercial context.

 Web Directory Submittals:

A web directory or link directory is a directory on the World Wide Web. These directories specialize in linking to other web sites and categorizing those links. A web directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory. Most web directory entries are also not found by web crawlers but by humans. The categorization is usually based on the whole web site rather than one page or a set of keywords, and sites are often limited to inclusion in only a few categories. Web directories often allow direct submittal of your site for inclusion, and have human editors review these submissions for fitness.

Many web directories are local and can lead to increased sales from a local or regional market. Directories such as wilmington.net are local in nature, and are typically referred to as "vertical drill-down directories". Other directories such as freewebsitelistings.com are global in nature and provide a broader exposure for your business and/or services, and may offer regionalization.

We can list your website in an assortment of website directories. Links to your website are an important part of site optimization and promotion, increasing your overall traffic to the site. Directory listings are a great source of links to your website and also a great way for website owners to increase their reciprocal links.  Website directories are also an alternative to search engine searches and rely on individuals who are determined to provide a quality resource for both webmasters and internet users alike. Most directories are 100% human reviewed, so sometimes it takes time to include your listing (this is not an automated software 'robot-type' routine). There are generally four types of listings, and a priority is given to listings in the following order:

° Sponsored Listings,
° Paid Listings,
° Reciprocal Listings, and
° Free Listings.

 Additional SEO Concepts/Strategies:

We employ a number of additional strategies that can lead to successful search engine results. One of these strategies is multiple 'landing' pages. We attempt to build each of the the page's content and searching plan such that each page may be returned by via search of different terms. This means that not just the start, index, default, entry, introduction, or primary landing page is returned. All of the pages should show up in web searches using various terms related to the specific page content. Another concept that we employ is data interpolation. Simply put, this describes developing the best searchable content possible when the actual message of the content remains unchanged due to the method of delivery. Some examples are:

° Not using images to represent text- most simple text effects can be accomplished without graphics, and the text is completely searchable.
° Taking complicated, heavily scripted image and/or text effects, capturing them once with 'screen-caps', then using the image that was generated, and not continually repeating the code that generated the image. This removes unnecessary iterations of repetitive code from the pages that may mislead or halt the page search itself.

Image Search Optimization (ISO)

We also employ Image Search Optimization (ISO) techniques organizing the content of your webpage/website to increase relevance to a specific keyword on image search engines. Like search engine optimization, the aim of image search optimization is to achieve a higher search listing and increase the volume of traffic from the search engines. Image search optimization techniques can be viewed as a subset of search engine optimization techniques that focuses on gaining high ranks on image search engine results.  Unlike normal SEO process, ISO requires a different approach. One tactic is to use as high a quality an image as possible. This makes your images stand out more during an image-only search. Further tactics include using standardized naming conventions for images that actually describe, or are related to the image. Another tactic is to target the "alt" tag which can be used to describe the image, fully utilizing the text-to-image correlation of the search engines. Still another tactic is to ensure that part of the basic text on the page contains words that reflect and possibly actually surrounds the physical image.

In addition, many search engines search specifically for the image alt tag to properly index the page. During HTML code validation an error will often occur in the page if the image "alt" tag is not included in the code or is included but has no contents.

SEO-Only Upgrades

We are often able to perform a simple SEO-only upgrade to your site. In this instance we can easily view and download the code pages from your existing site to determine if the code is properly optimized for searching. If not we can simply upgrade the site code and reload the pages into your site (we can also modify the code and mail it to you to upload yourself without us requiring direct access to your site). This actually results in no visual difference to the site (so there is no 'down-time'). The difference is in how the search engines index your site and should be reflected by more site visits.
